I saw a cool old timer at my first MTB race. He needed grips for the race, so he cut an inner tube and wrapped it around his handlebar, securing it with electrical tape. I loved the idea & ingenuity! However, I never thought I would need to copy his idea.

This year I bought a cool pink 12" wheel bike for my 4 year old daughter. She was good on a Strider, but this one had pedals. After our first ride she looked at her hands and said they hurt, after a few more rides I remembered the inner tube solution. So I cut up an inner tube and wrapped it around the handlebar, and viola her hands never hurt again.
