Standing while Biking

I learned to ride while sitting at all times. I almost never lift out of the saddle, even during extreme climbs. Recently this all changed...and it is wonderful.

I have been cycling in flooded areas on Hatteras Island this year, and I broke some spokes on the rear wheel. To minimize stress on the rear wheel I started standing while cycling. 

My right hip has been out of alignment for over twenty years. The standing helped put it back into place. I put more stress on the area, and it was loose and flexible ( not seated ) so alignment came back easily. I have continued to stand for months. It's not easy, but it is helping my body heal from old injuries. Try it out...it will make you strong & properly aligned.
