Recently I was cycling at night and was clotheslined a by a low hanging AT&T cable. I was terrified that I hit an electrical cable and expected to get electricuted. The power company notified me that low hanging cables are almost always data cables.

Sadly these low hanging cables are invisable at night, hence an extreme danger to the public. If you see a low lying cable please notify the business/homeowner they should know the provider. If they are unsure you should reach out to telecom providers. I contacted the police the day of my incident, and nothing happened for six months because noone knew AT&T owned the cable. After I saw another downed line with an AT&T tag I contacted AT&T and they admitted fault.
