How to remove squeaks from your bike

In the previous article I wrote about squeaky brakes, so I will assume the squeak comes from a non-brake source. A squeak is normally derived from non-lubricated metal on metal contact. Lubing the affected area will remove the noise. Some people wonder should I lube the stem/steerer tube, since they are vital for control. The answer is yes, every metal on metal contact needs to be lubed, but use the minimum in the stem/steerer area. No one wants that coming loose.
