I hitchhiked several times on my cross country bike trips. I got rides to bike shops for tech work, one guy got me out of a major tornado storm, and to pass around prison towns ...which don't allow cycling.

I had to wait for a pickup to take me and my big bike. However a folding bike allows it to fit in any car. Making multi mode transportation much easier.

The pandemic is making hitchhiking more complicated. However I still pickup kids in need of a ride. I learned to always pickup hitchhikers.
