Calves not developing via cycling

Growing up I always had skinny calves.... really skinny. Then I started cycling in my young 20's. My legs got huge... really huge. My friends told me my calves would grow due to cycling, so I waited for my calves to grow. They never did. They are bigger now, but only because I am physically bigger & heavier. I don't believe cycling has done anything for my calves development.
Calves affect ones jumping ability, I was hoping to gain the ability to jump high via cycling, unfortunately that never materialized.
