Bicycle Touring: grips

Grips are one of three contact points on a bicycle, hence they are supreme,y important. We will discuss the different type of handlebars and the best grips to use with them.

1. Drop handlebars: These are used on road bikes and traditional touring bicycles. Handlebar tape is used to cover drop bars to comfort the rider from road shock. Cork tape is the most comfortable tape on the market, try it out. In addition try some gel pads to go under the handlebars, they retail for around $20 and will make the handlebar super comfortable to hold.

2. Straight handlebars: Soft Foam grips are best, I prefer Ritchey WCS grips. Everyone is different, and you should choose the style that feels right to you.
